Yes, this occurred to me.  However, my thinking is that the PID file will be there if ovs-brcompatd suddenly dies or it is running, and then we'll report the status.  However, it will only not be shown if ovs-brcompatd never started or was gracefully shut down.  This seemed better to me than to always show the status of a daemon that shouldn't be running on all new XenServer builds.  

I guess I could just do a version check to make the determination, but that would require me to be less lazy.  Okay, you've guilted me into it...
