Hi,

We ran into this issue too, took me two days but what I figured out is that if you remove bridge-utils _and_ blacklist bridge then it works.

I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that bridge-utils drops the following files:
/etc/network/if-post-down.d/bridge
/etc/network/if-pre-up.d/bridge

The way I'v been able to solve it is to delete those two files but then no bridge is ever brought online. I've also tried X-Start-Before $network in the hope that would do something but insserv seems to be gladly ignoring any change I make to LSB headers.

Interestingly enough Ubuntu is not hit by this bug.

So, what next?
