Hi Joe,

Thanks for testing those backports.

I ran them on debian with 3.16 kernel. I see the same failures.
Interestingly, if when the test hangs (when waiting on the ping) I ping
in a different window namespace to namespace it will work as expected.
This ping should be equivalent to what the test is doing. I can't
explain this yet, but I'll keep investigating.
