[ovs-discuss] Simple Open vSwitch Testing framework

Hi All,

I wrote a set of scripts [1] to do some basic benchmarking of Open
vSwitch to be able to compare its performance to standard bridging.

So far it only has support for KVM, netpipe, and a little bit of
support for iperf. It works for what I need to test.

It has enough support to re-create the graph in the Open vSwitch paper
(KVM-based).

For my research, I need to do some testing with flow control rules, so
I will head in that direction. I may also later test with Xen.

My hope is that others will find it useful and extend it to fit their needs.

If you find any bugs, let me know. There are a number of obvious TODO
items marked within the code, so see the code first.

It only has very minimal testing, so be careful using it. I didn't
mark it up yet, but I was thinking GPLv2. If you want to use it with a
different open source license, contact me.

Also, it is very Ubuntu/Debian specific. Patches would be very welcome
for other distributions. Xen support should also be easy to add.

Thanks,
Todd
