FullACK - I can appreciate that very much.
I'd just like to point out that there's a bunch of secondary issues connected to brctl support removal (amongst which: automatic xen/kvm vif attachment to existing bridges)
Anyhow: the workaround is to start with an empty DB at bootup every time (maybe it'd make sense to point this out as a caveat somewhere until it's fixed, or the decision to remove it has been made :) )
