Thanks for quick replies. Ok here are the symptoms of my problem. If anyone
can point me in a specific direction I would appreciate it. I am porting
OVS to an embedded platform. When running the start up script
"/etc/init.d/openvswitch start", ovs-vswitchd and ovsdb-server both boot
correctly.

The only error when running the start up scripts is
ovs-ctl: line 714: uuidgen: not found
missing uuidgen, could not generate system ID ... failed!

After this I can create bridges and ports with ovs-vsctl add-br add-port.
However my virtual switches are not showing up as network interfaces under
ifconfig.

Are the UUIDs necessary for identifying virtual bridges as net devices or
is this a deeper problem. Just hoping for some confirmation on this idea
before more cross compiling

Thanks in advance!
