[ovs-discuss] How an openflow switch identifies Link failure

Hi,
  Whan a link fails, how the switch connected to that link knows it. Will
it be notified by any other process. (or) will the switch polls using
netdev-get-carrier. In the second case then it won't be done immediately
right..it will be checked periodically know..If so then what's the time
period.
Please clarify.
