[ovs-discuss] OVS switch in Openflow mode - monitoring management and control ports

Hello all,

I have a question.
Assume that I have a 16-port switch running OVS in Openflow (v1.3) mode.
This means that I may have around 14 ports in Openflow mode and 1 for
management and 1 more control channel (or I could run both management and
control channel on the same port).

With any Openflow controller, we can monitor via OFStats on all the
Openflow ports. Now how can we monitor Management and Control channel
ports? Can we just send monitoring traffic of these ports via Openflow
channel to the controller? Or should we use gNMI or SNMP for those only?
Using anything other than Openflow means that there are 2 monitoring
systems for the same switch which is a no-no for deployment.

I would like to understand what methods folks have used for deployment?

Thanks & Regards

/Shivaram
